There’s a park in Gowanus that has a playground and basketball court, yet it’s not listed in the ‘find a park’ section on the Parks Department Website. The park has been around since at least the 1930s (according to a Parks Department reconstruction document from 1940) and even took part in a Lowes Home Improvements Social Responsibility clean up initiative, yet every time we hang out at Ennis Park there aren’t many people there. It may be because the park is hidden by active industrial facilities that has kept it a secret. This park feels forgotten, but it hasn’t been! A group called the Gowanus Alliance wants to clean up the park and needs your help to do so. This Sunday August 14th at 10:00am the group will be having its first event in which it will clean up Ennis Park for community. They also will have a petition for the public to sign that asks the mayor for further improvements to the park. There will be food, music, and a guess speaker.
Ennis Park is located on:
12th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenue in Gowanus, Brooklyn, NY 11215.
Come support a good cause this Sunday from 10am – 4pm!
