In this series of one day workshops, writer Zane Grant (author of We Will Bury You) and artist Deepak Ananthapadmanabha will give a crash course in the world of graphic novels. Each workshop will focus on a different genre of graphic fiction: hero books, autobiography, novels, cartoons, webcomics, etc.
Enter the world of web comics! Bring your vision to this one-day workshop and create a one- to two-page comic designed to go online. You will learn the history of this complex new genre, plus the tools and tips to get your comics seen by the biggest audience in the world.
No matter the genre, students in this series will learn how to think in terms of sequential art, plan artwork, and weave a compelling narrative into the images. We will also touch on pitching your work to publishers, and discuss what it means to be a professional cartoonist. You may not leave with a finished novel, but you will understand how to tackle one on your own.
