  Sixpoint creates some of the best beer on planet earth. (We can’t even tell you how much we miss the HopObama!) Their beer is a staple of NYC and now pretty much any place that now carries their cans.

  

  Beyond that the team at Sixpoint has all sorts of characters. One of these characters that enunciates the modern trends in brewing is Heather McReynolds. Heather represents a growing resurgence of her gender in the beer brewing industry.  Niki Blasina multi-platform journalist, posted this video highlighting Ms. McReynolds awesomeness.

• Geocachers: Gowanus

  Grammy-winning Mandolinist Avi Avital joins host Sam Osterhout in playing a hipster nerd game called
  Geocaching. Geocaching is an activity in which someone hides a tiny object somewhere in the world and someone else uses GPS to find it.

  (FYI: despite what the map at the beginning of this episode implies Red Hook Bait & Tackle (not Red Tackle as the Geocachers website says) is located in Red Hook. It’s an awesome bar! You should go there, like right now… if it’s not open wait out front till it is).

• I Can See Destruction From My House – Friend’s of CB6 Map Sandy’s Mess

  It’s been a full month and a half since Hurricane Sandy came in and sucker punched New York in the face. All over New York people are still sorting out the giant mess that the water made. To help understand the scope of destruction a local group that supports the local Community Board called Friend’s of Community Board 6 are mapping out the places effected by the Storm in the South Brooklyn area. The group has created a public google map for people to mark the location of hurricane damage in the South Brooklyn area.

  

  At the time of this post there are 11 places marked on the map. We are sure there is much much more.

  Were you effected? well, the Friend’s of Community Board 6 want to know. You can and should put your info down if your place received damage from the storm. This information will be extremely valuable for research being done in the area.

• Developer Wants Gowanus Canal Sludge To Expand Gowanus Bay

  DNAinfo Reports that concrete business own John Quadrozzi wants to dredge the Gowanus Canal and add that toxic sludge to a property he owns in Red Hook at the Gowanus Bay. The proposal, presented at Community Board 6 on Monday, is said to allow for larger vessels to be able to use John Quadrozzi’s business.
